How ChatGPT Can Change Your Entire Insurance Agency, Starting Right Now

Today In 5 Minutes Or Less (TLDR):

🔒 You’re Either Using AI Or Falling Behind🔒

Dear Insurance Champions,

Dude, let’s get straight to it. There are only two types of agencies right now: those embracing AI tools like ChatGPT, and those hoping the “AI thing” blows over. Spoiler, it won’t. This is the Internet moment all over again, and you're either on the train or watching it leave the station.

Why Most Agents Are Stuck

  • You’ve got 100 browser tabs open but can't solve your team’s bottlenecks.

  • Too many “shiny object” software logins, not enough results.

  • You know your lead follow-up is slow, but can’t pinpoint why.

  • Team struggles to adopt new tools, or worse, carriers say “you can’t use that.”

Here’s the deal: Waiting for permission = becoming irrelevant. If you’re not aggressively digging into these AI tools now, good luck competing by next year.

Actionable Steps: Bringing ChatGPT Into Your Agency

1. Ruthlessly Spot Your Agency’s Weak Spots

  • Spend a day just observing. Jot down every time you sigh, roll your eyes, or want to punch your monitor.

  • Can’t see the problems? Have a trusted (unbiased) outsider shadow your workflows. Fresh eyes = exposure.

2. Go Paid, Go Simple

  • Forget app overload. One tool you MUST pay for: ChatGPT (the $20/mo version).

  • This is your new “super Google”, don’t mess with knockoffs or freebie versions.

3. Train Your Team, Fast

  • Don’t assume your team won’t sneak around carrier rules. They will.

  • Train everyone on exactly how, when, and where to use ChatGPT. Lay down crystal clear guardrails.

4. Start Small, Not Stupid

  • Pick ONE process: writing a sales email, prepping prospect lists, summarizing a claims file, whatever is your daily headache.

  • Run a test. Don’t build the “AI agency of the future” overnight, start with a blade of grass, not a city.

5. Measure. Iterate. Scale.

  • Don’t just roll it out then forget. Measure what changes, speed, accuracy, or volume.

  • Tweak, adapt, and double down only once something works.

Real Results, Fast (Or You’re Toast)

When everything’s moving at 2x speed, going at yesterday’s pace isn’t an option. We’ve seen agencies lose whole teams and still bounce back, just by fixing bottlenecks, not blaming the market or waiting for “motivation.” The tools are here. Start using them, or watch your agency get left in the dust.

Bottom line:

Don’t panic. Don’t buy 500 gimmicky apps. Pay for ChatGPT, audit your bottlenecks, and just get moving.

Why Human Connection Still Matters in Insurance with AI on the Rise

If you’re running an insurance agency today, or thinking about what you’d do differently, there’s one thing you can’t ignore: how AI is shaking up the way we all do business. When you’ve got an agency with any kind of scale, or you’re working within a bigger captive system, leaning into AI isn’t just the smart move, it’s the necessary one.

But here’s the thing I’ve seen that makes all the difference: use AI where it truly works best, right up front. Let it help answer those first questions, filter out the tire-kickers, or take care of that routine busy work. When you’re dealing with hundreds (or thousands) of inquiries and quotes, AI helps you keep things running without driving your team into the ground.

Let’s not kid ourselves, though, there are hiccups. We’ve all been those frustrated customers or agents, stuck when the system doesn't get it. But every agency I’ve seen really crushing it with AI is ready to bring in real humans for the moments that actually matter. And that’s the piece most people miss. When the situation gets complex, those high-value, high-emotion, high-stakes cases, that’s when you bring your human team to the table. That’s when our real value shines through.

So if you’re building your book today, focus on doubling down where humans matter most. Complex coverage questions, emotional claims, sensitive life moments, or those nuanced commercial accounts… that’s where you create loyalty and real relationships. People aren’t just looking for another faceless agent. Especially as more of our industry gets automated, a real person who genuinely cares, who listens, who solves the real problems, that’s going to be worth more than ever.

Trust is not going out of style any time soon. Machines can answer questions, but they don’t build trust. Your clients need to believe you’re a real person on their side, not someone just trying to close the next deal or, worse, scam them. As the tools we use become more advanced, the human relationships at the core of our business become even more essential. That’s where we win, and where we stay relevant, no matter how smart the AI gets.
